About Silenced Narratives
Silenced Narratives is a blog for the devalued stories, the sidelined protagonists, and the narrative potential discarded by conventional design. Here I explore game stories criticizing how they have been told, while pointing out how they could have been, had their creators honored the world and characters they have built.
This blog critiques the domination of singular narrative ideals, how certain figures define entire genres, often at the expense of nuance, diversity and emotional depth. We confront tales where characters are forced into roles they do not belong to, chosen heroes who disregard the world around them, and villains who exist without context or conviction.
I deconstruct narratives, seeking to ask: What if the side character were the protagonist instead, what if the setting's lore were honored, and not overridden by a pre-conceived idea that no longer belonged in the final product? What if the story took a different path instead?
If you've ever felt that a story missed its own point, or that a minor character bore the soul of the world more honestly than its champion ever did, then you are in the right place.
